Most screw-in Edison-base fuses have a clear window so you can see the metal filament. If this filament is broken or burned, the fuse is blown. Sometimes, even if the filament looks intact, it may still be bad. Install a new fuse by removing the “blown” one and screwing in a new one of the correct size.(See below)
While fuses themselves are very safe and often quicker to react to a fault than a breaker, they are also an indication of the age of the wiring. If your home has older wiring, you should schedule a thorough inspection by professional electricians. Call Paciorek Electric, Inc, to insure that your home remains safe.
Let our experienced electricians show you everything you need to know about your fuse system. Replacing a blown fuse with another fuse of incorrect amps will create a hazard. Fuses and breakers are designed to protect equipment and the wires feeding the equipment. Make sure you know the correct fuses for use in your home's fuse-box.
